Proclamation declaring February 5, 1988 as Ventura County
Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Day in the City of Moorpark
Lt. Michael Brown has asked that this item be placed on your agenda. The
intent of Law Enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in police
operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers, and to build
mutual understanding between citizens and the police.
The Law Enforcement Explorer Program is associated with the Boy Scouts of
America. February 4 to 10, 1988, is National Boy Scout Week. On February 5,
1988, the Ventura County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors'
Association will publicly recognize one outstanding Explorer from each post.

WHEREAS, February 4 through 10, 1988, is National Boy
Scout of America Week, and Law Enforcement Exploring is
associated with the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, the goals of Law Enforcement Exploring are to
learn the functions of their agency and the duties of peace
officers, to build self- confidence and discipline, to learn how
to handle emergency situations, to learn about community and
public relations, to develop maturity, and to develop leadership
qualities; and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Explorers donate their time to
their post, their law enforcement agency and their community; and
WHEREAS, on February 5, 1988, the Ventura County Regional
Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors' Association, in conjunction
with their respective law enforcement agency, will be recognizing
an outstanding Explorer;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK,
CALIFORNIA, does hereby proclaim Friday, February 5, 1988 as
"Ventura County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Day in the City
of Moorpark ".

Explorer Day
Recommendation:
It is requested that your Board proclaim Friday, February 5, 1988, as Ventura
County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Day.
Discussion:
The intent of Law Enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in
Police operations, to interest them in possible Law Enforcement careers, and to
build mutual understanding between citizens and police.
The Law Enforcement Explorer Program is associated with the Boy Scouts of
America. February 4 -10 is National Boy Scout Week. On February 5, 1988, the
Ventura County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor's Association will
publicly recognize one outstanding Explorer from each Post. The selected
Explorers will also receive a one hundred dollar scholarship to further their
education.
There are currently six Law Enforcement Explorer Posts sponsored in Ventura
County: Oxnard Police Department, Simi Valley Police Department, and four posts
from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

RESOLUTION OF
Declaring February 5, 1988
as Ventura County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer Day.
WHEREAS, February 4 -10, 1988, is National Boy Scout of America Week, and Law
Enforcement Exploring is associated with the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, the goals of Law Enforcement Exploring are:
1) To learn the functions of their agency and the duties of peace officers;
2) To build self- confidence and discipline;
3) To learn how to handle emergency situations;
4) To learn about community and public relations;
5) To develop maturity;
6) To develop leadership qualities; and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Explorers donate their time to their Post, their Law
Enforcement Agency, and their community; and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Explorers often enter into a career of Law Enforcement;
and
WHEREAS, February 5, 1988, the Ventura County Regional Law Enforcement Explorer
Advisor Association, in conjunction with their respective Law Enforcement
Agency, will recognize an outstanding Explorer by presenting him /her the
following:
1) Certificate of Recognition
2) $100.00 scholarship
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that Friday, February 5, 1988, is hereby
proclaimed
VENTURA COUNTY REGIONAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORER DAY
commemorating the outstanding work of the youth in the Law Enforcement Explorer
Program.
