TO: The Honorable City Council ACTION:_ nl,aue
FROM: Community Services Department
DATE: March 23, 1988 By
SUBJECT: MONTE VISTA NATURE PARK - PROFESSIONAL. ASSISTANCE FOR
PARK RE- DESIGN
At the March 16, 1988, City Council meeting, Council directed the
design for Monte Vista Nature Park be sent back to the Parks and
Recreation Commission for re- design. The re- design to be based upon
two factors: 1) total development costs not to exceed $66,000; and 2)
re- design maintenance costs not to exceed $1,000 per month.
Staff nor the Commissioners have the technical expertise in facility
design, material costs, low maintenance landscaping or maintenance costs
to re- design this park and meet the Council's request without
professional assistance from a Landscape Architect.
Roland Graham of R.W. Graham and Associates, designer of the original
park development plan, was contacted to see if he would be available to
assist with the re- design. Mr. Graham indicated the re- design
including development cost, conceptual plan, meeting with the
Commission and staff would involve approximately 20 hours of his time
at $35 per hour plus mileage at .25¢ a mile.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize contract with Mr. Graham for his technical services to assist
the Commission with re- designing Monte Vista Nature Park at a cost not
to exceed $800 ($700 for technical assistance and $100 mileage) from
Park Improvement Funds.
