HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 1988 0907 CC REG ITEM 04BITEM h!� PROCLAMATION "LATINO VOTER REGISTRATION AND EDUCATION 88 MONTH" SEPTEMBER 1 -30, 1988 WHEREAS, citizen participation is of the highest importance to the democratic process, and a priority to ensure that all segments of the population are adequately represented in the decision - making that affects their community, family and personal life; and, WHEREAS, recognizing the continuously increasing growth of the Latino population throughout Ventura County and the City of Moorpark, providing a valuable contribution to the economic, social and cultural development and well -being of our community; and, WHEREAS, E1 Concilio del Condado de Ventura in cooperation with Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project has established a community program designed to increase the civic participation of the Latino community through the Latino Voter Registration and Education 88 project; and, WHEREAS, the Latino Voter Registration and Education 88 project is a conscious response to the need to increase Latino voter registration and strives to develop civic participation throughout our community; and, WHEREAS, two key objectives of the Latino Voter Registration and Education 88 are to increase Latino voter registration and participation through civic activities; and, WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper as Councilmembers to aid in the promotion and growth of Latino voter registration and civic participation of the Latino community; NOW, THEREFORE, WE, as the Council of the City of Moorpark, do hereby proclaim the month of September 1 -30, 1988 as: "LATINO VOTER REGISTRATION AND EDUCATION MONTH" in the City of Moorpark. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Moorpark to be affixed this 7th day of September, 1988.
