SUBJECT: Miscellaneous Road Repair
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Subsequent to the tree removal project, the City Engineer
has prepared plans, specifications and contract documents
for the repair of curb, gutter, sidewalk and asphalt
pavement that were damaged by street trees. Included in
this repair project are additional areas in need of repair
that were not damaged by trees.
To facilitate possible budget constraints and provide City
Council with flexibility to do some work now and the
remainder at a later date, the bid documents have separated
into five alternative bid schedules. The Engineer's
estimated cost for construction of each schedule is as
follows:
A. Entire Project Area $ 127,118
B. Second and High Street only $ 22,681
C. Sierra only $ 31,008
D. Sierra and Shasta only $ 39,728
E. Second Street, High Street,
Sierra and Shasta only $ 62,408
Attached is a listing of each repair location, quantities
and the construction plans.

GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL WORK SHOWN HEREON SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC
WORKS CONSTRUCTION (SSPWC). 1985 EDITION WITH LATEST
SUPPLEMENT.
2. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO TAKE DUE PRECAUTIONARY
MEASURES TO PROTECT THE UTILITIES OR STRUCTURES FOUND
AT THE SITE. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTORS
RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE OWNERS OF THE UTILITIES OR
STRUCTURES CONCERNED BEFORE STARTING WORK. (48 —HOUR
NOTICE REQUIRED.)
3. PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL SUBMIT A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN FOR DISRUPTIVE
STREET WORK, INCLUDING CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE — SUBJECT
TO APPROVAL BY THE ENGINEER. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE
STATED IN THE JOB SPECIFICATIONS.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT ALL EXISTING PROPERTIES FROM
DAMAGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SUBSECTION 7 -9 OF SSPWC.
ACCESS TO PROPERTIES ADJACENT TO ALL AREAS OF WORK
SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
5. SPECIFIC CONSTRUCTION STORAGE SITES. OTHER THAN AREAS
CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR THIS CONTRACT, ARE NOT
AVAILABLE. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN PRIOR PERMISSION
FROM PROPERTY OWNER FOR ALL SITES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY
SUBJECT TO ENGINEERS APPROVAL.
6. ALL PAVEMENT JOIN LINES SHALL BE SAWCUT.
7. PROVIDE 3/8" A.C. LIP AT ALL EDGE OF GUTTERS.
8. ASPHALT AND BASE SHALL BE COMPACTED PER THE STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS.
9. AGENCY WILL MARK THE AREAS TO BE RECONSTRUCTED, LIMITS
OF WORK AND CURB. GUTTER AND SIDEWALK RECONSTRUCTION
PRIOR TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION.
10. PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT
UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT (USA) TOLL FREE AT
1- 800 - 422 -4133.
