Knipe, Assistant City Engineer April 11, 1989 Disposal of Surplus Soil Tract 3963 -3 (Griffin) BACKGROUND INFORMATION I TEM 8.J. STEVEN KUENY City Manager CHERYL J. KANE City Attorney PATRICK RICHARDS, A.I.C.P. Director of Community Development R. DENNIS DELZEIT City Engineer JOHN V. GILLESPIE Chief of Police Tract 3963 is located in the Moorpark College area of the City of Moorpark. A location map is enclosed for your reference. Tract 3963 consists of four phases with a total of 1,300,000 cubic yards of grading. The grading for the project was designed to balance onsite, eliminating any need for import or export and the resulting truck traffic. The most recent soil test results in Tract 3963 indicate that, after grading of Phase 4 (the final phase) , there might be 15,000 to 20,000 cubic yards of surplus soil. Based on the overall size of the project, this amount of material is considered minor. However, it would be a significant amount of material to haul away. The developer's engineer has proposed that this surplus soil be placed in the northern portions of Tract 3963 -3. Enclosed is a map showing the location of the proposed fill site, as well as a blow -up showing the proposed contours within this fill area. Since the exact amount of excess fill is not known, the fill material will be contoured and layered evenly over the entire disposal site. When this process is completed, the site will be hydroseeded with a native mix to blend with the natural surrounding condition. 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529 -6864 Page -2- The proposed concept has been reviewed and approved by both the City Engineer and the Director of Community Development, and meets the intent of the City's conceptual grading policy.
