GILLESPIE Chief of Police The Ventura County Flood Control District (VCFCO) planned to construct a drainage channel from the existing north edge of the pavement of Los Angeles Avenue to a point approximately 352 feet downstream. The channel would have been a combination of reinforced concrete box conduit, rectangular open channel and outlet transition. The City has requested the rectangular open channel be altered to reinforced concrete box conduit from Station 8 +25 to Station 9 +25.22, and that this conduit be extended 30 feet upstream from Station 10 +77 to Station 11 +07. The "addition" (as referenced in the agreement) was requested in order to minimize public inconvenience and potential flooding. The agreement estimates the City's cost for the additional work to be Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000) plus the City will be required to pay 25% of the cost for design, inspection, and administration. Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) has been budgeted in the current year from the Los Angeles Avenue Area of Contribution (AOC) Fund to cover the additional construction costs plus 25% of the cost for design inspection and administration (Acct. x/27•- 11.42•-903 -025) If the City Council accepts this agreement, it will be placed on the County Board of Supervisors' agenda for their April 25, 1989 meeting. The City will be required to remit: to the District its share of the estimated costs within 30 days of the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Staff Recommendation Authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the agreement for construction of the Happy Camp Drain addition and authorize expenditure of $50,000 from the L.A.
