The Ventura County Flood Control District (VCFCO) planned to construct a
drainage channel from the existing north edge of the pavement of Los
Angeles Avenue to a point approximately 352 feet downstream. The channel
would have been a combination of reinforced concrete box conduit,
rectangular open channel and outlet transition.
The City has requested the rectangular open channel be altered to
reinforced concrete box conduit from Station 8 +25 to Station 9 +25.22, and
that this conduit be extended 30 feet upstream from Station 10 +77 to
Station 11 +07.
The "addition" (as referenced in the agreement) was requested in order to
minimize public inconvenience and potential flooding.
The agreement estimates the City's cost for the additional work to be
Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000) plus the City will be required to pay 25%
of the cost for design, inspection, and administration. Fifty Thousand
Dollars ($50,000) has been budgeted in the current year from the Los
Angeles Avenue Area of Contribution (AOC) Fund to cover the additional
construction costs plus 25% of the cost for design inspection and
administration (Acct. x/27•- 11.42•-903 -025)
If the City Council accepts this agreement, it will be placed on the
County Board of Supervisors' agenda for their April 25, 1989 meeting. The
City will be required to remit: to the District its share of the estimated
costs within 30 days of the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. This will
most likely riot occur until 17Y 90/91 hec.ause the District must apply to
