1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Weisberger called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Commissioner Thompson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners Joseph Catrambone, Scott Krutilek, Richard Stratton,
Sandra Thompson, and Chair Julie Weisberger.
Staff Present: Mary Lindley, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community
Services; Stephanie Shaw, Recreation Coordinator; and Patty Lemcke,
Administrative Assistant.
4. PROCLAMATIONS, COMMENDATIONS, AND SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS:
A. Staff's Monthly Report.
Mary Lindley gave an oral report.
5. REORDERING OF, AND ADDITIONS TO, THE AGENDA:
None.
6. PUBLIC COMMENTS:
None.
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
A. Approval of Minutes for the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting of
February 5, 2007. Staff Recommendation: Approve as presented.
B. Winter Camp Program Summary. Staff Recommendation: Receive and file
report.
MOTION: Commissioner Thompson moved to approve the Consent Calendar as
presented. Commissioner Catrambone seconded. The motion was carried
5-0.

8. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS:
A. Consider Staff Proposal for 3rd of July Fireworks Extravaganza. Staff
Recommendation: Support staff's proposed outline for the 2007 3rd of July
Fireworks Extravaganza.
Stephanie Shaw gave a brief overview of the proposed agenda for the
July 3rd event, including the two bands that have been scheduled, the
different vendors, and games being planned for the children. The fireworks
show will be similar to last year's, with the addition of more shells for the
finale.
Commissioner Catrambone requested that the football tossing be
addressed and monitored again this year.
The Commission and staff discussed minor details of the event.
The Commission reached a consensus to support staff's proposed outline
for the 2007 3`d of July Fireworks Event.
B. Consider Recreation Programs and Events for FY 2007/08. Staff
Recommendation: Concur with staff's FY 2007/08 recreation programs
and events proposal, as outlined in the agenda report.
Mary Lindley reviewed with the Commission staff's recommended
recreation programs and events for FY 2007/08. New events being
proposed for next fiscal year are Kids Day in the Park, Arbor Day, and the
Arts Festival.
Staff is also proposing to expand on the tot programs by adding afternoon
and evening classes. This will help to enable working parents to attend.
Staff would also like to enhance the teen programs at the Library and
expand the teen dances,as well as have additional summer youth sports
camps.
Commissioner Thompson suggested that perhaps another Moorpark
organization may be interested in assuming the event Visits With Santa
from the City, since the City no longer offers it.
Commissioner Thompson also inquired as to why the one-day teen ski
trips are no longer being offered. Ms. Lindley stated that this event was
dropped after a few years of the teens not showing interest in it any

longer.
The Commission reached a consensus to concur with staff's FY 2007/08
recreation programs and events proposal, as outlined in the agenda
report.
C. Consider Park Improvements for FY 2007/08. Staff Recommendation:
Develop a list of potential park improvement projects for FY 2007/08 for
City Council consideration.
Mary Lindley reviewed the proposed park improvement projects,
identifying the projects that were approved in FY 2006/07 and will be
carried over to FY 2007/08.
The Commission and staff reviewed the status of some of the current
projects.
The Commission reached a consensus to carry this item over to the next
scheduled Park Tour meeting of April 1, 2007.
D. Review of the City's Goals and Objectives for 2007/08. Staff
Recommendation: Recommend Goals and Objectives for FY 2007/08.
Mary Lindley reviewed the department's existing goals and objectives and
encouraged the Commission for their input on any additional objectives for
next fiscal year.
The Commission reached a consensus to carry this item over to the next
scheduled Park Tour meeting of April 1, 2007.
9. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
Commissioner Thompson announced the upcoming first Arbor Day
Commemoration and Ceremony on Saturday, March 10.
10. ADJOURNMENT:
Chair Weisberger adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
