TO: Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Community Services Services
DATE: April 26. 1988
SUBJECT: CAMPUS PARK FACILITIES
As the Commission is aware, from our recent tour of the City Parks, we
had some missing and deteriorating equipment at Campus Park.
Specifically, we have two missing picnic tables, four deteriorating
bar-b-cues, and three missing litter receptacles.
In reviewing this with our Facility Coordinator, Faye Beaver, we feel
the following equipment is needed to provide the level of service at
Campus Park as originally planned:
A. Picnic Tables (4)
Iron Mountain Forge #238-HGU
handicapped style, galvanized, treated
pine tops and seats
4 x $198 = $792 + 6% tax = $ 842.52
B. Mid-size Grill (6)
Iron Mountain Forge #205-X
permanent post, adjustable grill with
utility shelf
6 x $132 = $792 + 6% tax = $ 842. 52
C. Stationary Litter Receptacle (7)
Iron Mountain Forge #293-X2P
32 gallon, 2" x 4" construction heart
redwood
7 x $42 = $ 294 + 6% tax = $ 311.64
Equipment freight and shipping $ 350.00

In addition to adding equipment we also
recommend overlaying the existing asphalt
path area -- approximately 4,000 sq. ft.
Oxnard Oil Spreading who did work 3 years
ago will do work for 1.3754 sq.ft. $ 550.00
Total Costs $2,846.68
Currently there is $8,500 budgeted for Campus Park in the 1987-88
budget in account 05-147-603, Park Improvements.
Also, we have contracted with Channel Islands Roofing to reroof the
restroom structures at the park for $1,028.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend the City Council appropriate $2,896.68 from account
05-147-603 for the purchase of 4 picnic tables, 6 grills and 7 litter
receptacles as stated for the sum of $2,346.68, and overlay of the
asphalt pathway for $550.00.

s U B -F, T : TREE REMOVAL ON WILLIAMS RANCH ROAD -
TRACTS 3019 & 3525 (WARMINGTON HOMES)
On December 8, 1986, the City Council directed, that prior to the lifting of
the "stop work" order on the subject tree removal, that Warmington Homes
work out a deal with an adjacent property owner (Jerry Straughan) concerning
the disposition of the wood from the trees, along with clarification on
landscaping and drain line easement concerns. This action required that
Mr. Straughan receive the equivalent of five (5) cords of firewood which
was to be cut, split and stacked. During his testimony on this matter,
Mr. Straughan had indicated that the subject firewood would be donated.
As indicated in the attached letter, Warmington Homes and Mr. Straughan
have agreed that Warmington will donate $1,000 to the City for tree
beautification purposes in lieu of providing the firewood. The funds have
been deposited with the City.
The matter of finding a specific use for the funds for park or street tree
usage is being referred to the Parks & Recreation Commission. Mr. Straughan
has suggested that one possible use be the purchase of specimen-type trees
for an unspecified project.

will supercede the condition set forth by the City on December 8, 1986 in
regards to supplying you with 5 - cords of firewood.
I would also like to take this time to clarify two of the other items of
concern:
