SUBJECT: Consider Resolution Authorizing Submittal of a Housing-Related
Parks Grant Application for $123,000.00 and Authorizing City
Manager to Execute All Documents Required to Participate in
Program
BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is accepting
applications for Housing-Related Parks (HRP) Program. The HRP Program is designed
to reward local governments that provide housing for lower-income households and are
in compliance with State housing element law with grant funds to create or rehabilitate
parks. A total of $25 million is available for the 2013 funding round.
The 2013 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) award funds to eligible jurisdictions on
a per-bedroom basis for each residential unit affordable to very low and low income
households permitted during calendar years 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 until June 30.
During the eligibility period, the City of Moorpark developed 27 units consisting of 68
bedrooms. If the City is successful in securing this grant, approximately $123,000.00
could be used to upgrade playground equipment at Poindexter Park.
FISCAL IMPACT
None.
