CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. by Shawn Fenerin. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge was led by Shawn Fenerin. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Bridget Aamoth, Courtney Beaulieu, Shawn Fenerin, Matiana Gajda, Samantha Gajda, Megan Gratke, Stone Hagman-Lawson, Gavin Mazur, Deema Momani, Olivia Ordin, Forest Sullenbarger, Laura Traffenstedt, Ryan Wicks. Absent: Danielle Bautista, Natalie Garcia. Staff Present: Dylan Gunning 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS A. Recap of Expectations, and Brown Act Dylan Gunning presented a review of the Council expectations, and the Brown Act. Teen Council meetings will take place the first and third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center. Teen Council is responsible for developing, promoting, and volunteering at teen programs and events. Teen Council members will attend at least one City Council meeting during the 2013-14 term. Shawn Fenerin motioned to increase the expected individual volunteer hours from 35 hours to 40 hours. Courtney Beaulieu seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by those present. B. Nominate Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary Dylan Gunning presented the elected positions for Teen Council and informed the Teen Council that at the September 25, 2013 meeting that prospective board members need to prepare a presentation about themselves. Voting will take place at the September 25 meeting after all presentations are heard. Shawn Fenerin motioned that three public relations positions be added including two for the two Middle Schools and one for the High School to help Teen Council Regular Meeting Minutes September 4, 2013 Page 2 promote programs. Laura Traffenstedt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by those present. Shawn Fenerin motioned that Teen Council should have a gavel for the Chair to use during meetings. Megan Gratke seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by those present. B. Upcoming Programs Cupcake Challenge, September 21: Teens bake and decorate cupcakes. The cupcakes are then judged and awards given. County Days, October 5: Teen Council rides in the parade. - Pre-Halloween Glow Party, October 18: A middle school dance. - Trick or Treat Village, October 31: Annual Halloween carnival. - Game Night, November 15: A night of games including video games and sports games. Multiple contests are held for prizes. C. Brainstorm Ideas for Teen Programs and Classes Dylan Gunning presented the new "Youth Club Program — Event Proposal Application". Youth Clubs can propose to the City of Moorpark Recreation Division program and/or events that division can host alongside the club.The youth clubs help plan, market, and volunteer at said programs and events. The Recreation Division will help plan, provide space, and staffing for the program and/or event. All proposed programs and/or events are required to be open to the general teen public. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: None. 7. CONSENT: The 7/31/13 Minutes were approved. 8. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. by Shawn Fenerin.
