Director of Community Development R. DENNIS DELZEIT City Engineer JOHN V. GILLESPIE Chief of Police TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Patrick J. Richards, Director of Community Development DATE: December 21, 1988 (CC meeting of 1 /4 /d)q SUBJECT: EXTERIOR COLOR MODIFICATION TO OFFICE BUILDING AT THE CORNER OF LOS ANGELES AVENUE AND SCIENCE DRIVE (301 SCIENCE DRIVE) - DP -362 (CC &F) BackcLround Cabot:, Cabot & Forbes have requested a minor change to the exterior color, of the office building at the corner of Los Angeles Avenue and Science Drive. The existing building color is white with a blue - window accent color. As the attached letter from CC &F indicates, they are requesting to be allowed to add a medium grey" accent color to the building above and below the second story windows and at the recessed entries. The medium grey color is expected to soften the white background color of the building. The Director of Community Development has determined that the requested paint change is not a modification of the project as the original project approved by the City Council included an accent color which was eliminated from the final design plans. CC &F will be applying a test sample of the medium grey paint on January 2, 1989. Council members may view the sample paint application from January 2 to January 6. If the Community Development Director determines that; the medium grey accent color improves the appearance of the building and no objections are expressed by Council members by January 9, the Director will approve the requested color change. If any Council member has an objection to the color change, the Director will consider this matter as a modification to the development plan. Recommended Action Receive and file. Exhibits: 1. Traffenstedt CITY OF MWRPARK 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 Re: DP 362 301 Science Drive As a follow -up to our conversation, I am requesting that Cabot, Cabot & Forbes be allowed to add a "medium grey" accent color to the building above and below the 2 -story windows and at the main and secondary recessed entries. The original rendering submittal to the City of Moorpark indicated an accent color which, somewhere along in the course of finalizing the design, was eliminated. Since this building is the focal point to the business park and the City of Moorpark from the 23 Freeway, we feel adding the medium grey would soften the white background color of the building. I would be happy to apply 2 -3 samples for staff and/or the Planning Commissioners for review and approval. I have attached two (2) samples and a picture with a portion of the proposed accent color shaded in, but since color samples change in different lights /angles and over large areas, I would prefer to make a field selection. I have also enclosed a sample of glass for your convenience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me. Very truly yours, alerie Senior Project Manager VB /ap Enclosure WE .. a ", - NOV 1989 !',RY or tAnn7PARK
