Area Housing Authority (AHA) Board includes a Resident Commissioner who lives in one of the public housing developments subsidized by the AHA and represents the resident body at Resident Council meetings. The AHA Resident Council conducted recruitment for a Resident Commissioner to serve a two year term beginning- July 1, 2014, and received six applications. After a review of applications from interested candidates and subsequent interviews the AHA's Resident Council has selected Gilbert Bell, a public housing resident in Thousand Oaks, as the recommended Resident Commissioner. A letter has been received from the members of the AHA requesting ratification of the appointment of Mr. Bell to serve as Resident Commissioner. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Direct that a letter be sent to the Area Housing Authority Board ratifying the appointment of Gilbert Bell as a Resident Commissioner for a term ending May 31, 2016. Recruitment efforts have been underway and following a review of applications from interested candidates and subsequent interviews, members of Area Housing Authority's Resident Council have chosen Gilbert Bell, a public housing resident in Thousand Oaks. At the May 2e meeting of the Board of Commissioners, I was directed to request that the jurisdictions ratify the appointment, so therefore request that the Moorpark City Council adopt a Resolution to appoint Gilbert Belt as Resident Commissioner to our Board. Hillerest Drive yewbury Park-, CA 913-20 RESIDENT COMMISSIONER RECONIMEN-DATION The Resident Council (RC) board was searching for a candidate who shared our Lision of outreac'h to all of AHA's Public Flousing communities and who demonstrated �oth desire and ability to attend the Resident Council meetingson a regular basis. IThe RC board reviewed six (6) applications. Of the total applications, I was Jwithdrawn per the resident's request, I was disqualified as the resident was unable to pontinue with the inten4ew process (out of the country), and I application was i�ncomplete. (Please see attached summary for additional details).
