HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 2014 0423 CC SPC JNT LIB ITEM 05A ITEM 5.A. erry of MOORPARK,CALIFORNIA City Council Mooting MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL �� ✓��®� AGENDA REPORT ACTION TO: Honorable City Council FROM: Steven Kueny, City Manager BY: Jennifer Mellon, Administrative Services Manager DATE: March 25, 2014 (Joint Meeting with Library Board of 4/23/14) SUBJECT: Consider Status Report on Mission Statement, Priorities, Goals and Objectives for Fiscal Year 2013/14 and Direction for Fiscal Year 2014/15 BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION At the Library Board meeting of March 11, Boardmembers discussed the Fiscal Year 2013/14 City Goals and Objectives that directly relate to the Library. Boardmembers gave feedback/suggestions regarding the Goals and Objectives to be discussed at the joint meeting with the City Council on April 23, 2014. Attachment A is the list of the Library related objectives approved by the City Council for FY 2013/14 including the possible objective. At the Library Board Meeting on March 11, staff recommended that the Board consider the following as an additional potential 0-2 Year Objective: VIA. Evaluate and implement ways to increase the Library collection resources by collaborative borrowing efforts and/or by utilizing on-line resources to provide increased levels of service to residents. The consensus of the Library Board was to discuss inclusion of the staff recommended objective with the City Council at the Joint meeting as well as discuss the possible inclusion of this additional objective for consideration as a 0-2 year objective: VI.A. Continue to compile a digital history project that will memorialize the history of the City of Moorpark by collaborating with the public, service organizations, the Historical Society, and other entities to gather and electronically preserve documents, photo's, and other media. The Library Board also wished to recommend that the current objectives remain as objectives. 1 City Council Joint Meeting with Library Board -April 23, 2014 Page 2 STAFF RECOMMENDATION Direct staff as deemed appropriate. Construct new City Hall and Library. 0 to 2 Year Objectives Vl.A.1. (F) Develop conceptual design proposal and process Civic Center Master Plan including EIR for new City Hall, council chambers, and other government offices and Library by June 30, 2014. In process Vl.A.23. (F) Present a report to the City Council on feasibility of retaining the current library building and expanding it at its current location by March 31, 2014. In process 2 to 5 Year Objectives V.B.1. (NF) Develop a Youth Master Plan. Continue objective into 2014115 Potential Objective 28. (NF) Implement a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system and install security gates at the Library. Continue objective into 2014115 as a possible 2 -5 year objective or concurrently with the construction of a new Citv Hall and Library.
