SUBJECT: Tierra Rejada Road Alignment Alternates
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The development conditions for Tracts 4340, 4341, and 4342
(UWC) require the alignment of Tierra Rejada Road between
Spring Road and Moorpark Road South be approved by the City
Council. Urban West Communities has submitted two alternate
alignments.
The main advantage of Alternate No. 1 is that the grading,
slope heights, and slope easements are kept to a minimum.
The maximum slope height under this alternate design would
be 30-35 feet, with approximately 1.8 acres of slope
easement required. The main disadvantage of Alternate No. 1
is that a portion of the right-of-way and slope easements to
be acquired lie on County, not City, property.
The right-of-way and slope easements for Alternate No. 2 lie
entirely within the City of Moorpark. However, Alternate
No. 2 would require approximately three times more grading
and slope easement areas than Alternate No. 1. In a,rlol;_t.;ten;
the maximum slope height for Alternate No. 2 is
approximately 50-55 feet.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Either alternate design is acceptable from an engineering
point of view. Council should accept the alternate design
which is deemed more appropriate. MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA
