Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 4:09 p.m. by Laura Traffenstedt.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge was led by Laura Traffenstedt.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Andrew Austin, Ryan Bermont, Josh Donner, Matiana Gajda, Samantha
Gajda, Natalie Garcia, Megan Gratke, Stone Hagman-Lawson, Lila Masson,
Gavin Mazur, Siddhi Salunke, Laura Traffenstedt.
Absent: Bridget Aamoth, Kanika Gulia, Olivia Ordin.
Staff Present: Dylan Gunning.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS:
A. Teen Council Hours
Dylan Gunning presented each person's hours to date.
B. Report from Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary
Vice-Chair Laura Traffenstedt stated that Teen Council needs to do a better
job at promoting programs. No one other than Teen Council showed up for
the Pizza Challenge. Secretary Megan Gratke stated that some of the
members need to participate more due to low volunteer hours.
C. Upcoming Teen Programs
The Underground: Saturday, December 13, 2014.
Letters to the Troops: Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
Breakfast with Santa: Saturday, December 20, 2014. Teen Council
members are asked to volunteer at this event.
D. Brainstorm Ideas for Teen Programs and Classes
Teen Council reviewed ideas for Teen Council proposed events from the
November 5, 2014 meeting. Teen Council discussed the time period dance
idea, concluding that an 80's themed dance for middle school student is the
best option. Teen Council discussed the Kite Day event, suggesting the

program is held during April, which is Nation Kite month. The event will
including kite building and kite flying competitions. Teen Council discussed
offering a Cosplay/Fandom event with movie trivia, cosplay contests, and
themed food, with possible connection to the film Divergent. Teen Council
also discussed the need for another Volunteer Day.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
None.
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
MOTION: Teen Council member Josh Donner moved and Teen Council member
Natalie Garcia seconded a motion to approve the Consent Calendar. The motion
carried by voice vote: 12 - 0, Teen Council members Bridget Aamoth, Kanika Gulia,
and Olivia Ordin were absent.
A. Consider Regular Meeting Minutes of November 5, 2014.
Staff Recommendation: Approve the minutes.
8. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:17 p.m. by Laura Traffenstedt.
