Newhouse O 'pct"- of Community Services DATE: February 1, 1990 SUBJECT: Consider Relandsca n'/ island Medians on Campus Park Drive BACKGROUND: There are four sections of media. on Campus Park Drive. Three of the sections were landscaped by Gri ' fin Homes. The area between Pecan Avenue and Collins Drive was land`caped about six (6) years ago as part of the adjacent development by ;riffin Homes, and the area between Marquette and Julliard was landsc`ped last year. The remaining island median between Princeton and Jull was landscaped two years ago by A & R Development. DISCUSSION: The landscaping recently cmnpl* ed by Griffin Homes (Marquette to Julliard) is extensive and ve,, attractive; a mounded area with boulders, shrubs, trees and groum crv , The newly planted areas have made the other two islands less attractive. Staff has solicited .. b`d from our landscape contractor, Turf-Pro, to upgrade the landscajng to the lesser attractive median islands to match those recently ]anted by Griffin Homes. The work will include minor improvnm*"t/repui ' of irrigation system, installation of plant material an placement of a few of the decorative boulders in the section of media, east of Pecan Avenue. The boulders will be relocated from t`e v~stp-r ectinn of the median. 799 Moorpark Avemue Moorpark, .3alifonia93O21 (805) 529-8864 The Honorable City Council Page 2 February 1, 1990 Costs to upgrade the landscap' n : 1( lows: Marquette to Julliard: Materials Needed: 5 15 gallon trees 42 Flats of gazanias 25 5 gallon raps 30 1 gallon Day Lilies 48 570C Toro Pop-up Spr i 0 -2T •; Mat riai Lots: $1,575.00 Lat - ) t.c rt $2,353.50 Princeton to Julliard: Materials Needed: 10 Flats of Gazanias 56 5 gallon shrubs Ma; i s ' o :t s $ 525.00 Lat . ;t $ 640.00 Su-- ,t1 $1, 165.00 PRft)FC , TOTAL: $3,518.50 Funds have been provided in t, ., landscape and Lighting Assessment Account #23-1143-642 in the amen. of $16,945.00 to cover the cost of miscellaneous improvements to Ted i r-4nd :parkways.
