With the installation of this timer, court lights will be turned on manually by residents wishing to play basketball at night . The timer can be adjusted so that the hours of operation will coincide with daylight savings time and standard time, and will shut off automatically at 10 pm. This timer will ultimately provide a cost savings to the city. Currently, the basketball court lights are on every night, even during inclement weather when no one is using the court . With lights only being on when residents are utilizing the courts, there will be a savings in electricity costs as well as the frequent replacement and maintenance on bulbs and fixtures . Work on this project should be completed within the month. RECOMMENDATION Informational only; receive and file the report . PAUL W.LAWRASON JR. AGENDA REPORT AC ON: '°'` L' 1 . '/ % TO: The Parks and Recreation Commission •,1..- , BY FROM: Christine Adams, Director of Community Servic- DATE: January 11, 1993 SUBJECT: Consider a Commission Work Session and Park Tour BACKGROUND It has been the practice of the Community Services Department to take a tour of the city parks at least twice a year with the Parks and Recreation Commission. As some of the Commissioners are newly appointed, it would be appropriate to have a park tour within the next month, preferably prior to the next Commission meeting. In addition, staff is proposing a work session for the Commission prior to the tour to review the Parks and Recreation Commission Information binder and to review roles and responsibilities relative to staff and Commissioners . This work session will lay the ground work whereby the Commission and the Community Services Department can begin to establish goals and objectives for the upcoming year. RECOMMENDATION That an adjourned Commission Meeting be held on Saturday, January 30, 1993 , from 10 am - 1 pm, for the purposes of a work session and a parks tour. PAUL W.LAWRASON JR.
