The Senior Center Coordinator is Funded through a matching grant
provided by the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, utilizing
Older Americans Act Grant Funds. This current year is the last
year of a three year funding cycle. As a grantee, the City has
been given preferential renewed fur.dinq for the last two years.
The City may apply for these grant funds again, for 1994 -95;
however, the City will not automatically be given consideration
for Older Americans Act funds for next year. Unlike the second
and third year of the funding cycle, the category governing our
project is highly competitive, and funding is determined based on
the proposed project as well as the available funds from VCAAA.
A total of $32,000 is available fl-)r .wo (2) programs to provide
services within a senior center which would establish, augment, or
enhance service to County resident:; ages 60 and over. As in past
years, this would be a matching grant, whereby the City would fund
the salary and benefit package of t ht= Ser_ior Center Coordinator
above the $16,000 grant- award.
For 1994 -95, the salary and benefit package for the Senior Center
Coordinator, is projected to be $37918.00. The City General Fund
would fund $21918.00 if staff is successfiil in obtaining the grant

Completed applications are due on Monday, April 18, 1994. As part
of the application process, the Ctty Council must adopt a
resolution which acknowledges the grant parameters and purpose
including agreement of fund 100 the -ost for the position in
subsequent years.
