BACKGROUND

Rescinding Resolution
Revised Parking Restrictions
Avenue
1. In October 1993 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 93-
981 establishing parking restrictions on Lassen Avenue and
Park Lane in the vicinity of the MLSSion Bell Plaza.
2. On March 2, 1994, the City Council heard public comment
critical of these parking restrictions. The City Council
referred the matter to the Transportation and Streets
Committee for discussion and recommendation.
DISCUSSION
On March 4, 1994, the Transportation and Streets Committee
(Councilmembers Hunter and Wozniak) discussed the above
mentioned request for a reconsideration of the parking
restrictions on Park Lane and Lassen Avenue. It has been
requested that the City consider allowing additional street
parking on the subject streets to accommodate youth sports
activities at Chaparral School.
The attached resolution provides for the modification of the
existing parking restrictions by eliminating the loading zone on
the north side of Lassen Avenue and extending the parking area
on the north side of the street easterly on Park Lane and
southerly on Lassen Avenue to a point approximately two hundred
forty feet (2401) south of the centerline of Lassen Avenue.
This will add room for the parking of approximately twenty (20)
additional vehicles.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff and the Transportation and Streets Committee recommend
that the City Council adopt the attached resolution rescinding
Resolution No. 93 -981 and establishing revised parking
restrictions on Park Lane and Lassen Avenue.
