AGENDA E2EPURT
C _T T Y O F MOOR PARK
The Honorable City Council
Kenneth C. Gilbert, Director of Public Works
March 7, 1994 (Council Meeting 3- 16 -94)
SUBJECT: Consider Conceptual Approval of a Project to Slurry Seal
Tierra Rejada Road
OVERVIEW
This requests authorization to proceed with the development of a
project to make necessary repairs to, and then apply a Type II
Slurry Seal to Tierra Rejada Road from a point west of Spring Road,
westerly and northerly to Los Angeles Avenue.
DISCUSSION
A. Project Need
The entire length of Tierra Reada Road from Spring Road to Los
Angeles Avenue is in need of resurfacing. It is proposed that
a project be developed for the construction of minor repairs, as
required, and the application of a Type II Slurry Seal to the
entire length of this street segment.
B. Project Cost Estimate
Although a detailed cost estimate has not yet been developed, it
is estimated that this project will cost approximately $300,00.
C. UWC Participation
As you may be aware, the City has not yet accepted from Urban
West Development (UWC) , that portion of Tierra Rejada Road in
the Mountain Meadows area (PC -3). Staff has approached UWC with
the concept of having the City's project address the resurfacing
needs of the entire length of this street, including that
portion in PC -3, with UWC reimbursing the City for those costs
attributable to the portion of the street in PC -3. Upon
completion of this project and payment of these costs, the City
would accept this street for maintenance purposes. UWC has
stated that they are generally in agreement with this concept.

D. Project Design
If we are to proceed with this project, it is recommended that
the City notify all utility companies to immediately undertake
any planned excavations in the project area and that staff and
the City Engineer proceed with the development of the plans and
specifications for the project
RECONKENDED ACTION (ROLL CALL VOTE)
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1) Authorize staff to proceed with the preparation of a design for
the subject project.
2) Direct staff to determine the scope of work and project cost to
be funded by UWC, and to obtain written agreement from UWC
confirming the level of their funding participation.
3) Approve an appropriation of funds and
