HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 1994 0803 CC REG ITEM 11CITEM-U --C, City of Moorpark AGENDA REPORT TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Christine Adams, Director of Community Services DATE: June 21, 1994 (Meeting of July 6, 1994) SUBJECT: Consider Revisions to City Park Naming- Policy At the City Council meeting of June 15, 1994, the City Council discussed as an agenda item the naming of the park site adjacent to the Villa Campesina neighborhood, and the downtown park site. As part of that discussion, Councilmember Wozniak asked to revisit the park naming policy which had previously been adopted by the City Council in November, 1993. 4 The adopted policy is attached for review by the City Council. The City Council will direct the Parks and Recreation Commission to make recommendations on names for all new park projects during or before park construction. 2. City parks may be named in a manner which identifies the geographic location of each park. Whenever possible the name of a street, or the street upon which the park is located, may be part of the park name. In special circumstances, park names could be designated to recognize a national or historical event, e signi-f-iGant 3. The City Council will consider the Parks and Recreation Commission's recommendations and will adopt the chosen park name by resolution.
