CITY OF MOORPARK
ITEM Sol:*

TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Mary R. Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager,
DATE: November 4, 1994
SUBJECT: Consider an Amendment to the City's 1994/95 Budget
and Allocate Funds for the Installation of a
Wrought Iron Fence at the Metrolink Station.
Backaround
Last year the City Council approved the installation of landscaping
and irrigation in the slope between the north Metrolink Station
parking lot and the railroad platform. In addition, the City
Council also approved the construction of stairs to provide easy
assess to the platform and to eliminate the public's inclination to
walk through the newly landscaped slope. Apparently the City's
efforts to eliminate pedestrian traffic through the slope has
failed. The result is that dirt paths have been created where foot
traffic has worn down the landscaping.
Staff proposes the installation of a four foot wrought iron fence
which would blend with the existing fence. The fence would cost
approximately $2,240, or $16 per linear foot.
Improvements at the Metrolink Station can be funded with Local TDA
funds. Staff proposes that $2,240 be transferred from the City's
TDA reserves to the transit budget for this project.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council approve an amendment to the
City's 1994/95 budget, as identified in the staff report, and
allocate $2,240 from TDA funds for the installation of a wrought
iron fence at the Metrolink Station.
