AUGUST 9, 1993
(MEETING OF AUGUST 18, 1993)
REQUEST TO DEFER CITY LOAN TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF
MOORPARK
The B ys and Girls Club of Moorpark (the "Club ") have been and are
cont n ing to upgrade their facilities to accommodate persons with limited
abil t es wishing to take part and participate in activities held at their
gymn s um. In the past, the City of Moorpark has been a sponsor of the
Boys a d Girls Club of Moorpark providing a loan in 1991 totaling $150,000.
The 1 b has repaid $100,000 of this loan, and the current balance due is
$50, 0 (by September 1, 1993).
The C1.1b is requesting a deferral of one year in order to pay back the
outs a idinq balance of the original loan. This request was discussed with
the Bulget and Finance Committee ("BFC" - Mayor Paul W. Lawrason Jr. and
Coun i member Scott Montgomery). The BFC recommends that the loan be
defe r d for a period of one year, and that the interest rate for this term
be f' percent (5%) simple interest due and payable at the time the
prin i al is repaid.
The EF indicated that the loan with the Club would have an equal or higher
inte e t rate than that if the monies were deposited with Local Agency
Inve t ent Fund (L.A.I.F). Further, that the Club will be in a position
to k e their Capital Reserve Money for other projects.
Staf and the Budget and Finance Committee recommend that the Mayor be
auth rized to execute an agreement by and between the City of Moorpark and
the o s and Girls Club of Moorpark extending the loan of $50,000 and that
it b ieferred with the following terms; (1) that the deferment be for one
(1) air, ( 2 ) that the interest rate be fixed at five percent (5%), and ( 3 )
that he interest be simple interest, due and payable along with the
prin al amount on or before September 1, 1994.
