I ITEM.1 to P-04 MOORPARK 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529 -6864 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Steven Kueny, City Manager DATE: January 3, 1992 ::-)ORPARK, CALIcORNIA City Council -MMo© ng of !J 1992 ACTION: tByftt SUBJECT: Consider Proposal for Expansion of the Moorpark Library Mayor Lawrason, Director of Community Development Pat Richards and I met with Supervisor Vicky Howard, Director of Library Services Dixie Adeniran, members of their respective staffs and a representative for the County Public Works Department concerning the potential expansion for the Moorpark Library. The proposal under consideration is to place modular buildings adjacent to the existing facility. Part of the added space, as well as required additional parking spaces, would need to be located on the City's portion of the Civic Center site. This appears to be a viable way to enlarge the facility and allow for accommodation of additional books and staffing. This would not preclude the ultimate goal of constructing an appropriately sized permanent facility in the future when funding can be secured. The next step in the process is for City and County staff to meet to review the site and share available information, evaluate parking needs and location, drainage concerns, zoning issues, access and funding; develop draft terms for the lease that would be needed; and determine what other points and steps would be necessary to bring this proposal to fruition. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Authorize City staff to meet with appropriate County staff on the proposed library expansion. SK:sc 131.tem PAUL W. LAWRASON JR. JOHN E. WOZNIAK SCOTT MONTGOMERY BERNARDO M.
