Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager DATE: February 12, 1992 SUBJECT: Consider Approval of the Paratransit Advisory Committee Membership Backe -round On January 15, 1992, Council approved the City's Paratransit Plan as required a oAmericans he with ansitex included . One of ' many requirements in the City's Plan, is the formation of an advisory committee. The advisory committee would participate in the developing the eligibility process and provide recommendations and input regarding the ongoing paratransit operations. The membership of the committee should include an individual with a handicap and /or someone who represents an agency that provides services to handicapped persons. This insures that the concerns of individuals who are eligible for paratransit services are addressed. When item was presented to the Transportation Committee it developed guidelines as to the composition of the Paratransit Advisory Committee and these guideline will be used to selected interested individuals. The five member committee would be represented by: PAUL W. LAWRASON JR one or more handicapped individuals residing in the City, and /or one or more service agencies, one at -large community representative, one City staff person. JOHN E. Councilmember Councilmember Paratransit Advisory Committee February 19, 1992 Page 2 The meetings will be held on a week day, sometime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. This insures that persons dependent on the City's bus system for transportation will be able to participate. Re : gn,ndation staff recommends that Council approve the membership of the Paratransit Advisory Committee as identified in the report.
