Gilbert, Director of Public Worh DATE: April 30, 1992 (Council Meeting 5 -6 -92) SUBJECT: Discussion of Proposed Community Garden BACKGROUND The matter of providing a Community Garden for Moorpark residents was a topic of discussion at an earlier City Council meeting. The matter was referred to the Public Works / Facilities Committee. DISCUSSION Arroyo Vista Park The Public Works / Facilities Committee discussed this matter at a recent meeting. In that discussion it was noted that there are very few parcels of property owned by the City which would be suitable for such a use. One such property is the easterly portion of Arroyo Vista Community Park. One benefit to this site is that the water source could be the City's irrigation wells on site. Unfortunately, there is no viable access to the site at this time. The easterly portion of the park could be made available next fiscal year after the access road is constructed. Alternate Site It was mentioned by the Committee that another possible site for this use could be a parcel located at the northeast corner of Peach Hill Road and Rolling Knoll Drive (Exhibit 1). This property is owned by the Moorpark Unified School District. The Committee subsequently notified Ms. Kemper, the individual in support of the project, of this site and was asked to contact the District regarding its availability. PAUL W. LAWRASON JR. In order to establish this use on that land, it would be necessary to provide certain improvements.
