Gilbert, Director of Public Works DATE: April 30, 1992 (Council Meeting 5 -6 -92) SUBJECT: Consider Approval of the Schematic Design for the Community Building for Arroyo Vista Community Park DISCUSSION Last November the City Council approved the selection of Wolf, Lang, Christopher, Architects, Inc. to prepare the design for the construction of the subject building. With input from staff, the architect has proceed with the development of the design concept. The Public Works / Facilities Committee has been given several presentations on the development of space allocation, the building floor plan and the proposed architectural theme. The architect is scheduled to give a formal presentation to the Public Work / Facilities Committee on May 4. A supplemental report on that presentation will be provided to the City Council on Tuesday May 5, along with the recommendation of the Public Works / Facilities Committee. Gilbert, Director of Public Works DATE: May 5, 1992 (Council Meeting 5 -6 -92) SUBJECT: Consider Approval of the Schematic Design for the Community Building for Arroyo Vista Community Park OVERVIEW This requests approval of the conceptual design for the Arroyo Vista Community Park Building (Schematic Design Phase of the architectural contract). DISCUSSION Last November the City Council approved the selection of Wolf, Lang, Christopher, Architects, Inc. to prepare the design for the construction of the subject building. With input from staff, the architect has proceed with the development of the design concept. The Public Works / Facilities Committee has been given several presentations on the development of space allocation, the building floor plan and the proposed architectural theme. Mike Merino, the Project Manager for this design, gave a formal presentation before the Public Work / Facilities Committee on May 4. The presentation covered the efforts of the architect to develop and complete the schematic design for the project. Discussions touched upon the structural design, building materials, future expansion, unique architectural features, construction costs estimates, the color scheme, etc. Attached is a computer generated representation of the building complex looking east. Also attached is a schedule for the completion of the design and construction of the project. Mr. Merino will be present at the City Council meeting to discuss the project in more detail. That presentation will include color renderings of the elevations of the buildings. RECOMMENDATION It is the recommendation of staff and the Public Works /Facilities Committee that the City Council approve the Schematic Design for the subject building. PAUL W. LAWRASON JR. JOHN E.
