SUBJECT: Consider Request from the Moorpark Women's
Fortnightly Club for a 4th of July Event
Summary
The Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club is proposing a 4th of July
event. Council is being asked to approve the Club's request to
plant a tree, provide a part -time staff person, and waive the
pavilion fee.
Back Ground
The Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club would like to sponsor a 4th
of July event that would include planting a tree to recognize the
Quincentennial of Columbus's arrival in the Western Hemisphere.
The tree planting would take place as a part of a small ceremony
which would be followed by a family picnic... The Club has selected
Glenwood Park to receive the tree and accompanying plaque.
The tree will be donated by Boething Tree Farms and the plaque will
be purchased by the Fortnightly Club. The Club is requesting that
the City provided a staff person on July 4 to plant the tree, and
waive the fee for the use of a park pavilion ($10.00).
Recommendation
Staff recommends that Council:
1. Approve the request by the Moorpark Women's Fortnightly
Club to plant a tree, with accompanying plaque, at
Glenwood Park on the 4th of July, and
2. Approve the use of staff, assigned to the weekend, to
plant the tree.
