As a result of the Presidential declaration following floods in
Southern California, the state of California activated the Hazard
Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) , authorized by Section 404 of the
Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of
1988 (P.L. 93-288, as amended) . The program's purpose is to fund
hazard mitigation projects which are cost-effective and which
substantially reduce the risk of future damage, hardship, loss, or
suffering resulting from a major flood disaster. Cities within the
County of Ventura are eligible to apply.
