AGENDA REPORT

This presents a summary of the bids received for the subject project and
recommends award of a contract for said construction.
The purpose of this project is to correct the slope failure along
the south side of Tierra Rejada Road, east of Peach Hill Road.

Prior to the beginning of construction, staff will send a letter
to the owners and residents of property immediately adjacent to
the top of the slope near the failure, advising them of the City's
intent to construct the proposed improvements.
1. Budaet and Fundina Sources: The budget for Fiscal Year 1993 -94
shows the funding for this project as follows:
AD84 -2 Capital Improvements $35,000.00
2. Cost Estimate: The following is an estimate of the total
project costs:

On August 30, 1993, bids were received, opened and tabulated. A
summary comparison of the bids received is attached as Exhibit A..
The apparent lowest responsible bidder is R & H Paving, Inc, of
Saticoy. This bidder is in possession of a valid Class 'A'
contractor's license and is experienced in the construction of the
type of work required. Inquiries made to previous employers have
been favorable. The Bidder has confirmed the prices bid to be
accurate and has stated interest in proceeding with the project.
It is anticipated that construction will begin within two weeks
and be completed by October 16, 1993-

Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1)
Award Contract for Tierra Rejada Slope Repair to the lowest responsive
bidder, R & H Paving Inc., Saticoy, California, for the amount of
$$25,850.00 2) Direct City Manager to sign contract on behalf of the
City, and 3) Approve a ten per cent (10 %) contingency for the project
and authorize the City Manager to approve additional work, if required,
for an amount not to exceed ten per cent (10 %) of the contract price.
