TO: The Honorable City Council )KV
FROM: Kenneth Gilbert, Director of Public Works
DATE: August 25, 1993 (Meeting of 9 -8 -93)
SUBJECT: Discussion of Freeway Fence Near Campus Park
DISCUSSION
The freeway right -of -way line does not coincide with existing
fences. This is particularly the case on the north side of the
freeway just east of Campus Park (see attached diagram). The net
result is the creation of a "No -Man's Land" between the freeway
chain link fence and property wall.
Staff has discussed this problem with Caltrans staff. The response
given is that, due to legal requirements, Caltrans is required to
place a six feet (61) high fence on the right -of -way line.
This matter is being brought to the attention of the full Council
at the request of Mayor Pro tem Montgomery.
