SUBJECT: Consider Resolution No. 94- Establishing 25 MPH Speed

DISCUSSION
Section 22357.1 of the California Vehicle Code allows local
agencies to reduce the Prima Facie speed limit to 25 MPH and to
post 1125 MPH Speed Zone" signs, at approaches to City Parks. The
Vehicle Code states: "...the 25 MPH speed limit shall be effective
when signs giving notice of the speed limit are posted... only
during particular hours or days when children are expected to use
the facilities."
The Police Department and the Transportation and Streets Committee
(Mayor Pro -tem Hunter and Councilmember Wozniak) has concurred with
staff's recommendation to post such signs at approaches to all City
parks located on all streets which do not have a current speed
limit of 25 MPH.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the attached resolution establishing reduced speed zones in
the vicinity of certain City Parks.
