Lindley, Assistant to the City Manager r DATE: January 26, 1994 (Council Meeting 2 -2 -94) SUBJECT: Consider Resolution No. 94 Establishing Restricted Parking Zones on High Street and Magnolia Street DISCUSSION Due to the closure of the 118 Freeway as sustained in the January 17 Northridge eart seeing a significant increase in the number its Metrolink Station. Before January 17, averaged 140 riders; since Monday January averaging 200 riders each week da%. a result of damage :hquake, the City is of people utilizing the City's Station 24, the Station is The increase in ridership is having a negative impact on a couple of the business on High Street, directly across from the Metrolink Station. Metrolink riders are parking on both sides of High and Magnolia streets, in i-ront of Sweet Cinn's, Lucky Dog's, the welding shop, and Kahout's. ibis practice prevents potential customers from patronizitiu those businesses. Staff is proposing that Council adopt the attached resolution which implements restrictive two -hour parking, Monday through Friday, on the north side of High street from the welding shop, west to the corner of Bard Street and on Moth sides of Magnolia, from High Street 303 feet north (approximately half way between High and Charles streets). See Fxhikit A. RECOMMENDED ACTION Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution establishing restricted parkinq zones on High Street and on Magnolia Street.
