TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: AGENDA REPORT CI7Y OF MOORPARK The Honorable City Council Lillian Hare, City Clerk January 27, 1994 (for CC Mtg of 2/2/94) APPOINTMENT TO THE MOORPARK MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT The Moorpark Mosquito Abatement District maintains field equipment and an entomology laboratory with the objective of reducing the number of nuisance insects in the Moorpark area. District Services include applying chemical and biological control agents to the insect population, working with area businesses and residents to reduce insect breeding sources, performing eradication research, and keeping yearly records on nuisance insect populations. The District Board is composed of five members, four members appointed by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors and one member appointed by the City. The Board meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. Bill LaPerch has served as the City's appointee to M.M.A.D. since March of 1988. He has served three terms, the most recent expiring in January of this year. The current appointment will be for a two year term expiring January 1996. Mr. LaPerch has indicated his desire to continue to serve on the Moorpark Mosquito Abatement District. As per MOP 7, the expiring appointment has been properly advertised and noticed in the paper and on Channel 10 and a press release prepared. The City has received two applications for consideration, one from Mr. Bill LaPerch and one from Mr. David Austin.
