The Senior Center Coordinato:- gas beE�n partially funded in
the past through a matching gan? provided by the Ventura
County Area Agency on Aging, tilizing Older Americans Act
Grant Funds. The 1993/94 fis- L year was the last year of a
three year funding cycle.
The City applied for these gr -ac:: funds again in April, 1994,
and was notified on June 14 t -ic,- the pity will receive $8000
in 1994 -95, which will be use tc supplement the salary of
the Senior Center Coordinat.o 'This grant is only for one
year.
A total of $32,000 was avail.ao.e in Ventura County this year
to provide services within senior center which would
establish, augment, or enhan: -, service to County residents
ages 60 and over. As in past y=ar.3, this would be a matching
grant, whereby the City wo�alc find the salary and benefit
package of the Senior Centel cDrdirator above the $8,000
grant award.
For 1994 -95, the salary anct of nef it package for the Senior
Center Coordinator, is project -.d ,c, he $37918.00. The City
will fund $29918.0( from other 01-Ce_ primarily the General
Fund.
RECOMMENDATION
Accept grant in the amount; $8)0( for 1994 -95 FY, and
direct City Manager to si,T ,11 rElevant contracts with
VCAAA.
