SUBJECT: Consider Revisions to i.tyPark Naming Policy,
At the City Council meeting of une 1'), 1994, the City Council
discussed as an agenda item the i aming of the park site adjacent
to the Villa Campesina neighborh x i, and --he downtown park site.
As part of that discussion, Count lmember Wozniak asked to revisit
the park naming policy which h,w pre- vi_usly been adopted by the
City Council in November, 1993
The adopted policy is attached f) review by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION
Direct Staff as deemed appropria',

Commission to make recommer61tions :)n names for all new park
projects during or before p,ia P :,Dnst ruction.
2. City parks may be named ir, a manner which identifies the
geographic location of each lark. whenever possible the name
of a street, or, the street .pon which the park is located,
may be part of the park name In special circumstances, park
names could be designat:e(:i ') recognize a national or
historical event, or a M( )rr-,ark resident who has made

3. The City Council will coc7Lder' the Parks and Recreation
Commission's recommendatioi and w.11 adopt the chosen park
name by resolution.
