re: GAS / FOOD Signs at New Los Angeles Avenue Exits
07 -VEN- 023.11.20
Dear Mr. Kilday,
Per your request, this letter will serve to clarify our request
for the installation of the subject signs.
I am advised that our prior request was denied for the following
reasons:
• No fuel service within one -half mile;
• Nearest fuel service not open more than sixteen hours per
day.
Please consider the following remarks in evaluating this request
for a reconsideration of that determination.
1. The are a number of Food Service establishments and one Gas
Station at the intersection of New Los Angeles Avenue and
Spring Road approximately 3000' west of the freeway. For the
reasons stated herein, it is requested that the one -half (')
mile limit be waived.
2. The New Los Angeles Avenue interchange is approximately half-
way between the cities of Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley on a
segment of the Route 23/118 freeway running through a
relatively undeveloped portion of the County. For those in
need of the subject services, identification signs would be
helpful. We believe that the installation of these signs
meets the intent of the regulations pertaining to such
matters.
3. Contrary to one of the stated reasons for denial, the Gas
Station at the southeast corner of New Los Angeles and Spring
Road is open twenty -four hours per day.
4. There are eight (8) Food Service establishments at the
intersection of New Los Angeles and Spring Road with
operating hours ranging between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Again we believe the installation of the requested signs will
provide a service to the motoring public. Your favorable
consideration is appreciated.
