The representative must be 60 years of age or older. The VCAAA by -laws have clear guidelines regarding the election process, whereby the city advertises for candidates and holds an election among the seniors of the community. City staff duly advertised for interested candidates and held the election on Monday, May 16, 1994. Two candidates applied, and a space was also on the ballot for any write in candidates. Mike LaRossa was elected by those voting seniors in Moorpark as the representative to the VCAAA Advisory Council. Morrie Abramson was selected as alternate, with the second highest number of votes. The by- laws identify that , in the election process, the applicant with the highest number of votes is selected as the representative and the one with the second highest number of votes is automatically elected as the alternate. The term of office for these two individuals will be two years, and will expire in May 1996. In June 1994, Mr. La Rossa and his wife moved from the area due to health and other personal reasons. Mr. Abramson was automatically moved to the Representative position, thus necessitating another election to select an alternate. The Senior Center staff conducted a special election among the seniors on July 25, and Mr. Tony Bellasalma was elected as the alternative representative. The VCAAA by -laws prescribe that each City Council ratify the election held in their city and forward the names of elected representatives and /or alternate representatives to the County. Ratify the election results from July 25, 1994 for Moorpark's alternate representative to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging.
