SUBJECT: Consider Request of W.O.M.E.N to use Community Center
and Cable Eauinment for Miss Moorpark and Miss Teen
Mooroark Paaeant on June 26. 1993.
SACRGROOND
Women of Moorpark Enjoying Networking (W.O.M.E.N.) have approached
the City regarding the use of the Apricot and Citrus Rooms from
June 24 - 26 for the Miss Moorpark and Miss Teen Moorpark Pageant
and related rehearsals.
This event is not being co -sponsored by the City, but does
coincide with other scheduled events being planned for the City's
loth anniversary. Consistant with the City's standard fee
schedule, W.O.M.E.N. fall into Group Classification I, and as such
would be required to pay the City $25.00 per hour for use of the
Apricot Room, $20 per hour for the Citrus Room, and a set up fee
of $40 and $35, respectively for each room. A $300 cleaning
deposit is also required of this group classification for any
potential damages or excessive clean up required by the city.
The organization will require twenty-three (23) total rental
hours, (13.5 hours for the Citrus Room and 9.5 hours for the
Apricot Room), plus the set-up charge for each room. Total charges
would equal $582.50, plus the required $300 cleaning deposit.
W.O.M.E.N. request that the fees be waived, with the exception of
set up costs and the cleaning deposit, for a total cost to
W.O.M.E.N. of $375.00. If the normal rental cost is not charged,
and the City charges direct cost for staff time, the cost to the
organization would be $238 ($17 per hour x 14 staff hours), plus
the $300 cleaning deposit.
In the matter of the request to have the pageants videotaped,
staff recommends that W.O.M.E.N. contract with Videomax for
professional services, and work directly with Ventura County
Cablevision and Mountain Meadows Cablevision for permission to
have the program broadcast on a public access channel. This
activity does not meet the criteria for broadcast on the
government channel.
r'
Videomax charges $150 for their videotaping services. The City
could allow W.O.M.E.N to have access to the video equipment at no
cost, only if they were to contract with Videomax to operate the
equipment.
RECON39FMDATION

as determined by the City Council.
