AGENDA REPORT
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Christine Adams, Director of Community Servic
DATE: November 9, 1993 (Meeting of November 17, 1993)
SUBJECT: Consider Ratification of the Area AgenCy on AClin!a
Election for Anpointment as Alternate Representative
from Moorpark,
The Advisory Council for the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging
consists of a representative and an alternate from each community
in Ventura County. The representative must be 60 years of age or
older.
The VCAAA by -laws have clear guidelines regarding the election
process, whereby the city advertises for candidates and holds an
election among the seniors of the community. Currently, the
alternate representative position from Moorpark is vacant. City
staff have duly advertised for interested candidates and held the
election on Wednesday, November 9, 1993. Only one candidate
applied, therefore the ballot consisted of that name, and a space
for a write in candidate.
Mary Schwabauer has been elected by those voting seniors in
Moorpark as the alternate representative to the VCAAA Advisory
Council. She will complete the term held previously by George
Peckham, which expires in June, 1994.
The VCAAA by -laws prescribe that each City Council ratify the
election held in their city and forward the elected
representative's name to the County.
RECOMMENDATION
Ratify the election and submit the name of Mary Schwabauer to the
Area Agency on Aging as the duly elected alternate representative
from Moorpark.
