OVERVIEW f, i 0,• C /
This presents for approval the subject request.
BACKGROUND
On November 3, 1993, City Council approved Resolution number 93 -983
establishing parking restriction to facilitate street sweeping
services.
DISCUSSION
A. Scope of Protect
One of the prerequisite to implementing these parking
restrictions is the installation of signs prohibiting parking
on designated streets during designated days and hours. In
some areas it will be necessary to core holes in concrete
sidewalks to place the sign poles. The number of holes
required could be as many as 100.
B. Fiscal Impact
Staff estimates that the contract cost to have these holes
cored will match or exceed the cost to purchase a concrete
coring machine. The estimated price for this equipment is
$2,500 - $2,700. It is requested that this capital
expenditure be approved. No additional operations or
maintenance funds are being requested. The net cost to the
City would be staff time required to perform the required
work.
RECOMMENDATION (ROLL CALL VOTE REQUIRED)
Staff recommends that the City Council approve an appropriation
from the Gas Tax Fund in the amount of $3,000.00 (includes ten
percent contingency) and approve an amendment to the budget
(Account # 3.142.906) to provide for acquisition of concrete coring
equipment.
