HARE City Treasurer Request for Overnight Travel Authorization Richard Hare, Deputy City Manager Pursuant to Moorpark Operating Procedure No. 1, the City Council must authorize all overnight travel. The Deputy City Manager is scheduled to attend a workshop sponsored by the California Municipal Treasurers Association. This meeting will take place in Burlingame (one mile from San Francisco) on January 24 and 25, and will require overnight travel. The estimated cost of travel and lodging is $200, and funds are available in Account 01.4.117.637. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Approve travel request. This will be the only advanced workshop during 1991. This session will be held on January 24 and 25, 1991, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Burlingame. The Embassy s located approximately one (1) mile from San Francisco Airport with courtesy shuttle service available. The training session is scheduled to begin on Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. and will continue until 5:00 P.M. with a break for lunch. Friday's session will run from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. This year we will provide an opportunity to get in -depth presentations on a small variety of subjects. The preliminary schedule includes: - Evaluating Portfolio Performance and Establishing Benchmarks - Investment Strategy (two concurrent sessions) - Evaluating the Safety of Banks and Savings & Loans - Accounts Receivable Collection - Community Reinvestment Act Nuts & Bolts This is an excellent opportunity for treasurers and treasury staff to become better informed and exchange information. It will also benefit treasurers who need recertification as a Certified California Municipal Treasurer (CCMT). Active members, and other treasury staff involved in investing, who would like to take advantage of this opportunity can do so at a cost of $150.00 per participant (double occupancy) . We also offer this session to county and district treasurers at a cost of $250.00. These fees cover lodging, meals, and materials. If you want a single room, add $45.00 to the above fees. This is a professional educational training session which is limited to treasurers and their appropriate staff members. NO PROVISION WILL BE MADE TO ACCOMMODATE OTHER GUESTS. We strongly encourage all participants to stay at the facilities; however, if you choose not to spend the night, it is imperative that you indicate this on your registration form. (There is no reduction in the registration fee for those not staying overnight.) PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS * Three (3) years service in treasury or * One (1) year CMTA or weekend workshop The CMTA Board of Directors established the Marcus Woodward Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist any active members who do not have sufficient funds to cover the tuition cost of $150.00. Application for such funds should be made directly to Randy Coleman. Be sure to indicate your reasons for applying. This session will be limited to 50 participants. All registration is strictly on a FIRST -COME, FIRST -SERVE BASIS!!! -please fill out the enclosed application form and return it along with your check made payable to CMTA, no later than Friday, January 4, 1991.
