SUBJECT: AB 2092 - Sher Legislation to Extend SRRE Deadlines
Assemblyman Byron Sher, author of AB 939, has introduced
legislation to extend by six months all deadlines for submission of
the Source Reduction and Recycling Element (SRRE) and the Household
Hazardous Waste Element (HHWE) as required by AB 939 and AB 2707.
Jurisdictions would be required to submit to the California
Integrated Waste Management Board a written report on the status of
the preparation of both the SRRE and the HHWE by July 1, 1991.
AB 2092 is supported by the League of California Cities, as it will
allow sufficient time for jurisdictions to prepare adequate waste
planning documents. It is a consensus bill and no opposition is
expected.
Staff will continue to work closely with the Ventura County Solid
Waste Management Department to complete preparation of the City's
SRRE and HHWE in a timely manner and to meet all deadlines.
Staff Recommendation
Authorize the Mayor to send a letter to Assemblyman Byron Sher
indicating the City of Moorpark's support for AB 2092.
