SUBJECT: Tennis Courts - South Meadows Park
This report is in response to a concern about the usable
.quality of the three tennis courts constructed at South
:'eadows Park; particularly the east court of the double
courts.
The United States Tennis Court and Track Builders Association
suggest the slope for non - porous courts be approximately one
inch in 10 feet, with a permissible maximum of to (12 inches
in 100 feet) on a true plane from side to side, end to end,
or corner to corner. The courts at South Meadows Park were
designed to slope side to side.
To assure the tennis courts were properly installed, three
independent surveys of the tennis courts were conducted by
Willdan Associates, Valcon (UWC), and Charles Abbott and
Associates to ascertain the courts' current configuration for
elevation and slope within standard specifications for
- oncrete court installation.
FINDINGS:
The three surveys taken were based upon fifteen fixed points
of the three tennis courts; all four court corners and at
mid -court (net line) . All courts were found to be within
acceptable surface grades as recommended by the U.S. Tennis
Court and Track Builders Association (1/8 inch measured as
the departure from the testing edge of a 10 foot straightedge
held parallel to and in contact with the surface).

The east court of the double court, which appears to have a
severe slope, actually was shown to have been built with less
slope. It has a slope of .90.
The survey data findings are available upon request.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file the report.
