Richards, Director of Community Development ' DATE: May 6, 1991 (City Council meeting of May 15, 1991) SUBJECT: HILLSIDE GRADING SEMINAR In accordance with the Moorpark Operating Procedure No. 1 - Meetings and Conference, this memorandum is being forwarded to the Council so as to approve the Senior Planner's attendance at a workshop regarding Hillside Grading. The MOP No. 1 requires that when the cost of registration; lodging; meals, etc . are at City expense, the City Council must approve such expenditure. It is the intention of the Senior Planner to attend the seminar on hillside grading sponsored by the American Planning Association on June 7, 1991 at the Lake Arrowhead Hilton Peninsula Conference Center. The estimated cost associated with the Senior Planner's attendance is as follows: Registration Fee $ 70 . 00 Hotel x 1 night $115 . 00 Meals $ 25.00 Transportation $ 82 . 00 Total $297.00 The remaining budget for conference attendance is approximately $5,000 for FY 1990/91. Staff Recommendation Approve the attendance of the Senior Planner to attend the Hillside Grading Seminar. Hillside Grading Seminar Sponsored by the Inland Empire Section of the American Planning Association INLAND EMPIRE Friday, June 7, 1991 The Inland Empire Section of the American Planning Association, in a collaborative effort with the Association of Environmental Professionals, is hosting a seminar on hillside grading techniques. The seminar will have expert speakers from the fields of engineering, landscape architecture, geology, land planning and architecture. Case studies regarding adopted hillside grading ordinances will be analyzed for effectiveness and real life compatibility. The seminar is geared for both new and seasoned planners. Because the Inland Empire section of the American Planning Association is so diverse, the Registration Form speakers will also address the desert environs. The seminar's program is planned as follows: The registration due date is May 17, 1991. If you are a full time student, please include a valid copy of your registration and fee.
