Council to review the current ,) -it l da r(.-,es and report their
findings which are as follows;
Commissioner Thompson has bee:- & volunteer chaperone for our

following comments:
1. Dances are needed to pro \_de a healthy activity and
atmosphere to reach th> risk" youths of the
community.
2. Dances are currently losing money due to low attendance.
Could be attributed tc, ,:)sts of entertainment and
competition from other gi ;up:3 offering dances; High
School, Middle School and 'r.)wn Peens.
3. Age group format change f i ( n 6, 7 & 8 grades to 7 to 9
grades confusing to those ii endinc.,
4. Need to develop dances t(: i crease attendance and reduce
costs. Could be done b, w, rk ing with other groups to
rotate or stagger dances a mr nt hly basis or jointly
cosponsor dances.
5. Return to 6, 7 & 8 gr_aa formit . Would simplify
checking I.D.'s and provid a3ditional activities for
the Middle School studen—: s h c:h ( rr rently have limited
activities.
Commissioner Stratton suggests;
1. Coordinate dances with th- M,dd, -e School.

reducing the number of ri in , E t ) i maximum of six (6)
for FY 1991/92.
Commissioner Corzine suggests:
1. Reduce dances to six (one e-, •ry ot-h(r month) .

dances per
year dedicated f
)r .grades 9
through 12; and
two dances
per year dedicate'
'.cr grades
6 through 12.
3. Each dance
would have a -1 f

to relate to a
holiday or
event during tl
