HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 1991 0918 CC REG ITEM 04BMme• PROCLAMATION SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF SEPTEMBER 23 -27 AS CALIFORNIA RIDESHARE WEEK FOR 1991 WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to increase the awareness and understanding of individual commuters regarding transportation alternatives and to challenge commuters to take personal responsibility for reducing air pollution, fuel :.onsumption, traffic congestion, transportation costs and parking needs b� ridesharing rather than driving alone to and from work; and WHEREAS, to help keep tra.ff�c flowing in Ventura County, transportation alternatives must incl•ade carpooling, vanpooling, taking the bus, walking and biking; and WHEREAS, the need to help public and private business communities throughout California to educate and build public awareness on the value of ridesharing and increasing the lumber of employers involved in developing rideshare programs, tc recognize the importance of ridesharing as an effective, low cost solution to many other transportation and environmental issues, and an effective component in a comprehensive transportation cyst. «,m that meets the needs of all citizens; and WHEREAS, it is in the interest ,f the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of the City o' Moorpark and Ventura County that the City declare its support for the designation of September 23 -27, 1991 as California Rideshare Week. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Moorpark proclaims support of the designation of September 23 -:27 as California Rideshare Week and urges all citizens in the City to recognize the important role which ridesharing plays in ensurilg the continued economic and environmental health of our communi *:.4 IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the City Council of the City of Moorpark does set its hand and cause the seal of t' e city of Moorpark to be affixed this 18th day of September, 1991.
