TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Maureen Benson, City Clerk DATE: February 25, 2013 (CC Meeting of (03/06/13) SUBJECT: Consider Appointment to Fill Vacancies on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee BACKGROUND On December 19, 2013, after three recruitments, the City Council appointed Sue Fitzgerald to serve as the City's representative on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee and directed staff to conduct a fourth recruitment to fill the vacancies for one more representative and one alternate representative. This recruitment ended on February 22, 2013, with receipt of two applications from: Diana Gould (As a current Planning Commissioner, Ms. Gould is not prohibited by Council Policy nor restricted by the Moorpark Municipal Code from serving on CTAC.) John Wozniak These applications were provided to Council under separate cover. DISCUSSION The City Council's current Policies Resolution No. 2012-3091 sets forth the Council policies for citizen appointments to boards, commissions, and committees. The Council policies have been followed for the posting and publication of notice of the vacancy. The Council's resolution states that the procedure for appointments shall be as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he/she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. 2 Honorable City Council March 6, 2013, Regular Meeting Page 2 C. The Mayor shall then make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Appoint one CTAC representative and one CTAC alternate representative for a term ending December 2014. 3
