FACT SHEET
The Southern California Water Committee,
Inc. (SCWC) is a nonprofit, non-
partisan, public education partnership
dedicated to informing-Southern
Californians about our water needs and
our state's water resources.
Spanning Los Angeles, orange, San Diego,
San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, Kern
and Imperial counties, the SCWC's
members include representatives from
business, government, agriculture, water
agencies and the general public.
Goals: To ensure an adequate, reliable, high
quality water supply statewide by
maximizing California's water resources
for the b(,nefit of current and future
generat i oT s
Programs: The SCWC i,.latliers and disseminates to the
general public information on California
water issues including water quality,
conservatkon,, reliability of supply and
affordabi ity fantors.
Why SCWC? Southern California faces critical water
supply challenges: about 70% of the
water falls in the north, while 80% of
the population is in the south. With
proper st,ite allocation, there is enough
water to meet current demand, but a
state con >en.sus on water supply issues is
imperat:iv- tc) meet future needs.
