Newhouse, Director of Community Services Jetrel DATE: January 11, 1990 SUBJECT: 42nd Annual California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference and Exhibit Show Annually, the California Park and Recreation Society hosts a Park and Recreation Conference. This year' s conference will be held March 15 to 18 in San Diego. This conference combines two sections: institute and educational seminars and an equipment exhibit show. The institute/educational seminars offer a variety of mini sessions related to the park and recreation field. The exhibit show provides the opportunity to view the largest cross-section of the most current and innovative products and services available to the Parks, and Recreation industry today in California. Funds have been budgeted in the FY 1989/90 budget as follows: Director of Community Services, Account #01.4. 134.632, $700; Maintenance & Operations Supervisor, Account #01.4. 147.632, $800; and Parks and Recreation Commission and Recreation Supervisor, Account #01 . 4. 148.632, $2,800; to cover conference expenses which include travel , room, registration and meals. Conference pre-registration deadline is January 31, 1990. By pre-registering, we can save $30 per person. All the Commissioners indicated they would like to attend the conference. Staff members who would like to attend are Director of Community Services, Maintenance & Operations Supervisor and Recreation Supervisor. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approve attendance of Department staff as approved by Director of Community Services and the five (5) Commissioners to this conference and direct staff to complete the necessary forms for the conference registrations at total costs not to exceed approved budget amounts.
